Overview

The Battle Blimp is the second Siege Machine, unlocked when the Workshop reaches Level 2 at Town Hall 12. Unlike the ground-based Wall Wrecker, the Battle Blimp flies through the air, bypassing all ground obstacles, Walls, and ground-based defenses on its way to the Town Hall. It drops area-splash bombs along its flight path — each bomb dealing similar damage to a Lightning Spell — and upon reaching the Town Hall or being destroyed, releases all Clan Castle troops stored inside. At max Level 5, it carries 5,000 HP, 260 DPS from its bombs, and deals 1,100 death damage when destroyed.

The Battle Blimp is the backbone of the iconic “Blizzard” strategy — loading it with Super Witches or invisible Super Wizards to devastate the core of an enemy base. It is immune to player-placed spells but can be buffed by the Grand Warden’s Eternal Tome (making it briefly invincible), which is essential for keeping it alive long enough to reach the Town Hall through heavy anti-air defenses. Its high death damage (1,100 at max level) also makes intentional destruction over a key compartment a viable tactical choice, allowing cargo troops to be released exactly where needed rather than at the Town Hall.

Key Attributes: Movement Speed: 18 (fast) | Attack Speed: 1.5s | Attack Type: Area Splash | Preferred Target: None (flies directly to Town Hall) | Housing Space: 1. Note: Death damage was reduced in February 2022 balance patch (from 1,000/1,200/1,400 down to 700/800/900/1,000 across levels 1–4) to rebalance the Blimp’s burst-damage potential in the late-game meta.

⚔️ Attack Strategies

Blizzard (InvisiWiz / Super Wizard Cargo)
The most popular Battle Blimp strategy. Load Super Wizards into the Clan Castle, deploy the Battle Blimp toward the Town Hall, then keep the Super Wizards covered under constant Invisibility Spells as they are released. Rage Spells amplify their chain-lightning damage. Their ability to chain lightning back onto invisible buildings makes them nearly unstoppable in the core.
Super Archer Blizzard
Same concept as InvisiWiz, but uses Super Archers instead. Their ability to fire through Walls while invisible lets them shred compartments without needing direct line of sight. Combine with Clone Spells for additional bodies and Rage Spells for burst damage. Particularly effective against TH13–15 rectangular core designs.
Lava Hound Tank Cargo
Load a Lava Hound inside the Battle Blimp. When the Blimp is destroyed or reaches the Town Hall, the Lava Hound immediately spawns as an air tank, drawing fire from Air Defenses and Inferno Towers. This is especially effective in air attack compositions where a secondary tank near the core makes the difference between 2-star and 3-star.
Town Hall Snipe (Sneaky Goblin / Yeti Cargo)
Fill the Clan Castle with Sneaky Goblins or Yetis, then deploy the Battle Blimp toward an off-center or poorly shielded Town Hall. Sneaky Goblins target resources (including the Town Hall), while Yetis deal massive burst damage. Pair with Rage Spells dropped on the Town Hall the moment the Blimp releases its cargo for a clean Town Hall snipe.
Electrone (Electro Dragon + Balloons)
Deploy the Battle Blimp to deliver Clan Castle troops, then rage and Clone Balloons and Electro Dragons when they reach the core. Electro Dragons chain outer defenses like mobile Earthquake Spells, while Balloons deliver sustained DPS. Ensure you clone Balloons (not E-Dragons) for maximum damage output at the Town Hall.
Ice Golem Freeze Delivery
Pack Ice Hound-complementary Ice Golems inside the Blimp. When released at the Town Hall, Ice Golems freeze the Town Hall weapon (Giga Tesla / Giga Inferno) and nearby defenses on death, buying your main army critical time to finish the 3-star. Effective when your main army needs 10–15 more seconds to complete the base.

🛡️ Defense Tips

Air Defense Placement on Likely Paths
Position Air Defenses to cover the most common Battle Blimp entry paths toward your Town Hall. Since the Blimp always targets the Town Hall, the likely flight paths are predictable — usually the 3–4 shortest diagonal angles from base corners. Overlapping Air Defense coverage on these lanes is your best counter.
Single-Target Inferno Tower on Air
A single-target Inferno Tower set to prioritize the Battle Blimp can destroy it before it reaches the Town Hall, especially if the Blimp separates from escort troops (Lava Hounds). Position the Inferno Tower inside a compartment the Blimp must fly over, ensuring sustained ramp-up fire for maximum damage.
Seeking Air Mines Cluster at Core
Cluster multiple Seeking Air Mines near the Town Hall, especially in the lanes the Blimp is likely to pass through during a second-phase attack (after a ground phase has cleared ground defenses). This is most effective when the attacker deploys the Blimp late — the mines will be untriggered and waiting.
Trap the Cargo Drop Zone
Place Giant Bombs, grouped regular Bombs, and Spring Traps near the Town Hall perimeter — where cargo troops (Sneaky Goblins, Yetis, Super Wizards) will land. Even if the Blimp reaches the Town Hall, traps that kill the cargo before it can attack are just as effective as destroying the Blimp itself.

🎯 Advanced Tips

Manual Release Timing
Press the green release button to manually destroy the Battle Blimp and deploy cargo troops at any point during its flight — you don’t have to wait for the Town Hall. Use this to drop Super Wizards or Bowlers exactly over the Eagle Artillery compartment before it activates (below 50% buildings destroyed), dealing immediate burst damage while avoiding Town Hall traps.
Grand Warden Eternal Tome Timing
Activate Grand Warden’s Eternal Tome precisely when the Battle Blimp enters the kill zone (within range of Air Defenses and Inferno Towers). The 5-second invincibility window is enough for the Blimp to cross through the most dangerous air defense coverage and reach the Town Hall safely. Mis-timing this ability is the most common cause of failed Blimp attacks.
Air Sweeper Counter
Air Sweepers will push back the Battle Blimp and stall it inside defense range, drastically reducing its HP before it reaches the Town Hall. Always identify Air Sweeper directions before deploying. Use a Queen Walk or a few Balloons to destroy Air Sweepers facing the Blimp’s intended flight path before deploying.
Lavaloon Puppet Synergy
Equip Archer Queen with the Lavaloon Puppet and deploy her near the Blimp’s path. The summoned Lavaloons act as air tanks, drawing Seeking Air Mine detonations and Air Defense fire away from the Battle Blimp. This significantly extends the Blimp’s survivability and is considered the most effective support setup for Blizzard and Electrone strategies.
