Overview
The Giant is the third Elixir troop unlocked in the Barracks at Town Hall 2, and one of the most iconic units in Clash of Clans. These towering warriors are defined by their massive health pool and defense-seeking behavior, making them the ultimate meat shields for your army. With 3,000 HP at max level but only 114 DPS, Giants are designed to absorb punishment while your damage dealers work from behind.
Giants exclusively target defensive structures, ignoring everything else until all defenses are destroyed. This predictable AI makes them excellent for tanking Wizard Towers, Mortars, and other splash defenses while Wizards, Wall Breakers, and support troops clear the base. Their low housing space (5) and instant training time make Giants one of the most cost-effective tanks in the game.

Key Attributes: Giants have a movement speed of 12 (slow), attack speed of 2 seconds, attack range of 1 tile (melee), and prioritize defenses above all other targets. They occupy 5 housing space, making them affordable for their HP value compared to PEKKAs or Golems.
โ๏ธ Attack Strategies
GiWiz (Giant-Wizard)
Deploy Giants first to tank defenses, followed by Wizards for splash damage. Add Wall Breakers to create entry points. This strategy dominates TH5-9 farming and is excellent for resource raids with 70%+ destruction rates.
Giant-Healer (GiHe)
Drop 8-12 Giants to tank, then deploy 2-3 Healers behind them for continuous regeneration. Critical: eliminate Air Defenses first with Lightning Spells or side troops. Best at TH6-7 before multiple Air Defenses emerge.
Wall Breaker Support
Deploy 1-2 Giants ahead of Wall Breakers to tank Mortar/Wizard Tower splash damage. This prevents your Wall Breakers from being one-shotted and guarantees wall penetration into core compartments.
Rage Funnel
Use Giants to clear edge buildings and create a funnel toward the base core. Once funneled, drop a Rage Spell on Giants + support troops for accelerated destruction. Pair with Jump Spell for multi-compartment pushes.
Siege Machine Tank
At higher TH levels, deploy 2-4 Giants with Siege Machines (Wall Wrecker/Log Launcher) to provide extra HP buffer. Giants soak initial defense fire while Siege breaks into the Town Hall compartment.
Spring Trap Awareness
Giants are vulnerable to Spring Traps (16 housing space capacity). Avoid deploying Giants in single-file lines through obvious wall gaps. Spread deployment to minimize Spring Trap effectiveness.
๐ก๏ธ Defense Tips
Strategic Spring Trap Placement
Place Spring Traps in wall gaps near high-value defenses like Eagle Artillery or Town Hall. A single Spring Trap can eliminate 3 Giants (16 housing space capacity), crippling Giant-heavy attacks instantly.
Wizard Tower Coverage
Position Wizard Towers to target support troops behind Giants rather than Giants themselves. This eliminates Wizards, Archers, and Healers, leaving Giants defenseless without backup DPS.
Multi-Layer Compartments
Create deep wall compartments that force Giants to break through 2-3 wall layers. This extends their pathing time, allowing defenses to deal sustained damage before Giants reach high-value targets.
Giant Bomb Placement
Position Giant Bombs inside compartments where Giants will path after breaking walls. While they won’t kill Giants outright, they’ll heavily damage support troops clustered behind them.
๐ฏ Advanced Tips
Super Giant vs Regular Giant
Super Giant (unlocked at Level 9) costs 25,000 Dark Elixir for 3-day boost. It throws boulders at range, has more HP, but occupies 10 housing space. Use regular Giants for farming; save Super Giants for trophy pushing or war.
Clone Spell Synergy
Clone Spell duplicates Giants inside its radius, instantly doubling your tank capacity. Deploy clones on Giants entering core compartments for a massive HP surge that overwhelms defenses.
Earthquake vs Jump Spell
Giants benefit more from Jump Spell than Earthquake for deep base penetration. Jump allows continuous movement through multiple wall layers, while Earthquake requires 4 spells for wall destruction.
Deploy Timing
Never deploy all Giants at once. Send them in waves of 4-6 to avoid splash damage from Scattershots, Multi-Mortars, or Bomb Towers. Staggered deployment spreads damage across multiple units.
Inferno Tower Counter
Single-target Inferno Towers melt Giants rapidly. Use Freeze Spell on Infernos or deploy Giants in small groups to distribute Inferno damage. Alternatively, bring Freeze or Poison to disable Infernos temporarily.
