Stamina is the resource that governs everything you do in Fields of Mistria — watering, chopping, mining, and fishing all drain it, and when it's gone, your productive day is effectively over. Early on it's your tightest constraint, but with the right habits it stops being a problem entirely. This guide covers every way to restore stamina, how to permanently raise your maximum, and how to make each point go further. New here? Start with our Beginner's Guide.

Free Soup at the Inn (Best Early Option)

Free soup at the Sleeping Dragon Inn restores stamina and health in Fields of Mistria

The Sleeping Dragon Inn cauldron gives one free bowl of stamina-restoring soup every day.

The single best early-game stamina habit: every day, walk into the Sleeping Dragon Inn and interact with the cauldron near the fireplace. You get a free bowl of soup that restores both stamina and health at no cost. It's available once per day for everyone — never skip it.

Even better, the amount of stamina the soup restores increases after you help repair the Inn, so it scales with your progress. Fold it into your daily routine: finish your farm chores, grab the soup, then head out to the mines, fishing spots, or lumber runs.

Eating Food and Cooking

Food is the backbone of stamina management. In a pinch, the berries and forageables you find everywhere restore a little energy. But the real solution is cooking your own meals.

Restorative Cooking

Unlock the Restorative Cooking perk in the Cooking skill tree (Tier 1). It lets you make food that restores stamina over time, and these restorative dishes drop more often when you cook in large quantities. Because food items stack, a big batch barely touches your inventory space while keeping you fuelled for days.

Once you've unlocked the kitchen (via a house upgrade), cooking stamina meals should be one of your top crafting priorities — a well-prepared dish can restore enough energy to give you a full extra afternoon. See our cooking guide for the best recipes.

?? Tip: Always carry food into the mines. Deeper floors can strand you far from the exit, and passing out underground comes with an item penalty.

Juniper's Bathhouse

Juniper's Bathhouse offers a full stamina and health refill in a single visit. It costs 100 Tesserae per bath — but early on you can complete a Request that rewards several free Bathhouse passes, so grab those as soon as the quest appears. It's the most convenient full refill when you're cash-flush and time-poor.

Use Rainy Days Wisely

When it rains, your crops water themselves — which means you skip the single biggest daily stamina drain. If you have stamina trouble and you see a rainy day, head straight to the mines and spend all that saved energy mining ore instead. Rainy days are the perfect time for long mine runs.

How to Permanently Increase Max Stamina

Stamina Up potion permanently increases max stamina by 20 in Fields of Mistria

Stamina Up potions permanently raise your maximum stamina — don't hoard them, use them!

The long-term fix for stamina troubles is raising your maximum. This is done through Town Rank: certain rank milestones award a Stamina Up potion, which fully restores your stamina and permanently increases your maximum by +20 when consumed.

As of the current build, Stamina Ups are awarded at Town Rank 10, 20 and 30. To consume one, use the Held Interact action (hold E or right-click on PC). Like Heart Crystals, they can't be sold.

?? Don't hoard them! A very common mistake is stockpiling Stamina Up potions in a chest thinking they're just a refill. They permanently raise your max stamina — use them the moment you get them so every future day benefits.

Because higher stamina lets you do more each day — including more Renown-earning activities — raising Town Rank creates a snowball effect. See our Town Renown guide for the fastest way to rank up.

Spend Less Stamina Per Action

Restoring stamina is only half the equation — the other half is spending less of it. Upgrading your tools at the Blacksmith reduces the stamina cost of each action, effectively increasing how much you can do per day.

  • Upgrade the Watering Can first — even the Copper tier waters a 3×3 area in one action, slashing your biggest daily drain.
  • Charge your tools — hold the tool button to hit multiple tiles at once. Higher metal tiers expand the charged area.
  • Recommended upgrade order for a new file: Watering Can ? Pickaxe ? Axe ? Hoe/Shovel, with Fishing Rod and Bug Net later.
  • Tool upgrades at the Blacksmith fully refill your stamina on the day you forge them, so it's a great day to then hit the mines.
?? Tip: Order your day so your highest-value tasks come first. Water crops, then forage, then mine — that way if you run dry, you've already locked in your income for the day. See our controls guide for charged-tool binds.
