How to Farm Data Points Fast in StarRupture – Complete Guide
Learn the fastest ways to farm Data Points in StarRupture. Discover how to collect Ignitium after Ruptures, hunt Vermin, and find broken technology for maximum Data Point gains.
Here we are with another guide in StarRupture and this time with How to Get Data Points Fast in StarRupture.
Data Points are the lifeblood of progression in the game StarRupture. You will need them to unlock recipes, level up your Corporation reputation, and basically advance through the entire game. But here’s the problem—roaming around Arcadia-7 hoping to stumble on enough resources to convert into Data Points is damn slow.
But the good news is there are some legit methods to farm Data Points efficiently, and one of them turns the game’s most dangerous mechanic into your biggest advantage.
If you’re just getting started with the game, check out our complete beginner’s guide first to understand the basics before diving into farming strategies.

Method 1: Ignitium Farming After Ruptures (This is the Best Method)
For me this is the best method. Why? Know here. The Rupture—that planet-wide catastrophe that wipes everything clean—is actually your golden opportunity for Data Point farming.
After each Rupture event, special resources rain down from the sky, including the meteorites and a rare material called Ignitium (fit this word in your mind). This stuff is insanely valuable: 5 Ignitium = 2000 Data Points when analyzed.
How to Find Ignitium?
Look for two telltale signs right after a Rupture:
- Orange glow on the horizon
- Smoke rising from the ground
These markers lead you to straight to Ignitium deposits. But there’s the catch—Ignitium degrades fast and only sticks around during the early hours after a Rupture. You’ve got limited time window to collect as much as possible.
Here is The Collection Process
- Watch for the Rupture warning and get to the safety
- Once the Rupture ends, immediately head out to find those orange glows
- Collect every piece of Ignitium you can find (prioritize this over everything else)
- Sprint back to your Analysis Station at your base
- Drop off the Ignitium to convert it into Data Points
This is hands down the most efficient Data Point farming method in this game. A good Ignitium run can net you thousands of thousand Data Points in some minutes. The timing is tight, but the payoff is absolutely worth it.

Method 2: Hunting Vermin for Biological Samples
When the Rupture isn’t active and you need a steady trickle of Data Points, hunting becomes your best bet.
Vermin—those annoying spider-like creatures crawling around Arcadia-7—drop biological samples when get killed. They’re pretty much everywhere, so finding them isn’t hard.
Here’s what you do:
- Hunt down Vermin across the map
- Collect the biological samples they drop (don’t forget to actually pick them up!)
- Bring them back to your Analysis Station
- Convert them into Data Points
Data Point yield isn’t as crazy as Ignitium, but its consistent and doesn’t require waiting for a Rupture. Plus, you’re clearing out hostile creatures that would attack your base anyway, so it’s productive on multiple levels.
Method 3: Salvaging Broken Technology (High Risk, High Reward)
Yes, this is the most complex method but potentially the most lucrative if you get lucky with your finds.
You’re looking for three types of locations:
- Fallen Drones
- Former Colonist bodies
- Ruins of previous ClayWood Corporation survey teams
These sites contain Broken Pieces of Technology in various shapes and sizes. The Data Point value varies wildly depending on the quality:
- Low-quality tech pieces: 400 Data Points
- High-quality tech pieces: up to 2000 Data Points
The challenge? These locations are scattered across the map and not always so easy to spot. You’ll need to explore thoroughly and probably you have to deal with hostile creatures guarding the sites. It’s time-consuming, but stumbling upon a cache of high-quality tech can give you a huge Data Point boost.
Other Sources (Hmm, Not Really Worth It)
You can analyze Plant Samples and Meteorite Cores at the Analysis Station for Data Points, but to be honest? Just Don’t bother.
These resources are way way more valuable for crafting than the tiny amount of Data Points they give you. It’s like trading a dollar for fifty cents—just not worth it unless you’re absolutely desperate and have extras lying around.

What Are These Data Points Actually Used For?
These Data Points serve multiple critical functions in StarRupture:
Corporation Leveling: Instead of sending material commissions through Orbital Launchers, you can deliver Data Points directly to level up your faction standing. This is massive because some higher-level corporations require thousands of Data Points, and gathering specific materials can be a pain.
Recipe Unlocks: Use Data Points at Corporation Terminals to unlock new technologies and building blueprints as you progress each faction’s tech tree.
Recipe Station Upgrades: Once you unlock the Recipe Station (requires Level 2 with Moon Energy Corporation and 100 Titanium Bars), you can also spend Data Points there to unlock additional recipes and building upgrades.
The flexibility is the real advantage here. Running low on a specific material a corporation wants? Just dump Data Points instead and keep progressing.
Some Pro Tips for Maximum Efficiency
Time your exploration around Ruptures. If you know a Rupture is coming soon, don’t wander too far. Be ready to rush out the moment it ends for that Ignitium collection window.
Set up an Analysis Station early. This should be one of your first priorities after establishing your awesome base. Without it, all those samples and resources are just taking up inventory space.
Keep your base close to diverse biomes. This makes it easier to hunt down Vermin and explore ruins without wasting time traveling. Check our beginner’s guide for the best base location tips.
Prioritize Moon Energy Corporation early. Getting to Level 2 unlocks the Recipe Station, which opens up even more uses for your Data Points beyond just faction leveling.
Don’t hoard Data Points endlessly. Use them strategically (very carefully) to unlock the techs and corporations that will help you farm even more efficiently. It’s an investment that pays off.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many Data Points do I need to max out all corporations?
It varies significantly by corporation, but you’re looking at thousands of Data Points for the higher levels. Some of the corporations like Clever Robotics go up to Level 13, and the later levels can require 1000+ Data Points each. Plan on farming tens of thousands total if you want to unlock everything.
Can I stockpile Ignitium for later or does it disappear?
Ignitium degrades over time even in your inventory, so it’s best to analyze it quickly after collection. Don’t try to hoard it—convert it to Data Points at your Analysis Station as soon as you get back to base. The degradation mechanic means timing is everything with this resource.
What’s the best corporation to spend Data Points on first?
Moon Energy should be your priority to unlock the Map (Level 3) and Recipe Station (Level 2). After that, focus on Selenian Corp for production buildings and Clever Robotics for automation. Combat corporations like GriffithsBlue can wait unless you’re getting overwhelmed by creature attacks.
Do Data Points carry over after a Rupture or do I lose them?
Data Points in your account are permanent and don’t get wiped by Ruptures. Only physical resources on the ground and in extractors are affected by the Rupture event. Your banked Data Points, analyzed samples, and unlocked technologies are completely safe.
Farming Data Points efficiently in StarRupture is all about understanding the rhythm of the Rupture cycle and knowing which resources give you the best bang for your buck. Ignitium farming after Ruptures is absolutely the meta strategy—nothing else comes close in terms of efficiency.
Set yourself up with a good base location near diverse biomes, get that Analysis Station running, and start timing your explorations around those Rupture events. Before you know it, you’ll be swimming in Data Points and unlocking technologies faster than you can build structures to use them.
